Kind Souls.
Not much traffic on this Christmas Day four-lane secondary Highway. Nice wide shoulder. Moments ago a large pickup truck coasted slowly past us and respectfully pulled off on the grass ahead of us not blocking. A large white gentleman maybe my age stepped out and graciously said, would you like some Thanksgiving, he did say Thanksgiving, leftovers? Seeing as I burn about 5000 calories a day yes that would be very nice. Bless Your souls James said to he and his wife. He asked, do you know of anyone else? I don't, obviously they have more to distribute kind folks.
We did not fight back, but we did not turn back. We did not give way to bitterness. Some few spectators, who had not been trained in the discipline of nonviolence, reacted to the brutality of the policemen by throwing rocks and bottles. But the demonstrators remained nonviolent In the face of this resolution and bravery, the moral conscience of the nation was deeply stirred and, all over the country, our fight became the fight of decent Americans of all races and creeds.

The word spread fast, and the response from Birmingham's youngsters exceeded our fondest dreams. By the fifties and by the hundreds, these youngsters attended mass meetings and training sessions. They listened eagerly as we talked of bringing freedom to Birmingham, not in some distant time, but right now. We taught them the philosophy of nonviolence. We challenged them to bring their exuberance, their youthful creativity, into the disciplined dedication of the movement We found them eager to belong, hungry for participation in a significant social effort. Looking back, it is clear that the introduction of Birmingham's children into the campaign was one of the wisest moves we made. It brought a new impact to the crusade, and the impetus that we needed to win the struggle. Immediately, of course, a cry of protest went up. Although by the end of April the attitude of the national press had changed considerably, so that the major media were according us sympathetic coverage, yet many deplored our "using" our children in this fashion. Where had these writers been, we wondered, during the centuries when our segregated social system had been misusing and abusing Negro children? Where had they been with their protective words when, down through the years, Negro infants were born into ghettos, taking their first breath of life in a social atmosphere where the fresh air of freedom was crowded out by the stench of discrimination? The children themselves had the answer to the misguided sympathies of the press. One of the most ringing replies came from a child of no more than eight who 98 Why Wb Can't Watt walked with her mother one day in a demonstration. An amused policeman leaned down to her and said with mock gruffness: "What do you want?" The child looked into his eyes, unafraid, and gave her answer. "Feedom," she said. She could not even pronounce the word, but no Gabriel trumpet could have sounded a truer note. Even children too young to march requested and earned a place in our ranks. Once when we sent out a call for volunteers, six tiny youngsters responded. Andy Young told them that they were not old enough to go to jail but that they could go to the library. "You wont get arrested there," he said, "but you might learn something." So these six small children marched off to the building in the white district, where, up to two weeks before, they would have been turned away at the door. Shyly but doggedly, they went to the children's room and sat down, and soon they were lost in their books. In their own way, they had struck a blow for freedom.

So I have not said to my people: "Get rid of your discontent* Rather, I have tried to say that this normal and healthy discontent can be channeled into the creative outlet of nonviolent direct action. And now this approach.... is being termed extremist But though I was initially disappointed at being categorized as an extremist, as I continued to think about the matter I gradually gained a measure of satisfaction from the label. Was not Jesus an extremist for love: "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." Was not Amos an extremist for justice: "Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream." Was not Paul an extremist for the Christian gospel: "I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." Was not Martin Luther an extremist: "Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise, so help me God." And John Bunyan: "I will stay in jail to the end of my days before I make a butchery of my conscience." And Abraham Lincoln: "This nation cannot survive half slave and half free." And Thomas Jefferson: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal ..." So the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? In that dramatic scene on Calvary's hill three men were crucified. We must never forget that all three were crucified for the same crime — the crime of extremism. Two were extremists for immorality, and thus Letter From Birmingham Jail 89 fell below their environment. The other, Jesus Christ, was an extremist for love, truth and goodness, and thereby rose above his environment. Perhaps the South, the nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.

Updated. Notes to self regarding hunger strike.
James you have done a lot of these. What should you be remembering with the prospect of one more?
Item. How far do you go? Hopefully to the end. Each one you have hoped that. but you didn't. Yes, I didn't. Why. Because my overarching question each breath
Notes to James. What could be a final cycling log.
A good journey this 1st several hours.
What is at play?
Item. If it doesn't feel Like turbine, if it feels not like turbine In the Pelvic area You're not doing it right. If there is lopsided power within the cycle, too much power, too much attempted power each cycle within the cycle those are all problems. turbine is relatively high rpm a 100 or above and week amazingly so throughout every rotation.
Item. Roiling. If it does not feel essentially chaotic but rather feels structured in some way you're doing it wrong. Sometimes it feels very cyclical round but that's only in the highest level of coordination it seems but if it feels structured and points each cycle up-and-down each cycle or anything like that it is not turbine it is not roiling. you can do it.
Yesterday was not badd But nor was it great. The focus that James had was on feeling all energy on the premium roiling on the premium which previously weeks ago had been really really useful. It wasn't bad but nor was it particularly helpful. But also days ago the fact that something does rotate the joints down in the buttocks they do rotate there's no other option when that was brought to mind and Gently helping those roll forward and back The other points including those above became possible and began to fall into place. Incidentally. The metrics are not huge this journey this morning but acceptable very acceptable. 220 230 240 with little or no attention most of the time required. Auto pilot.
Item. The use of PID envelope on this mildly rolling road is really helpful. Particularly in as much as it at allows us to be on auto pilot.
Item. what about spaghetti legs? That was really really a euphoric encounter several days ago per the log But yesterday and today It was not at all in the thinking Which isn't to say that it was not in place It probably is but achieved with the points above better than bringing spaghetti legs directly to mind. If James were to guess the big thing is grasping what is not easy to bring to mind the next day that Being turbine Is absolutely instrumental.
Item. Equalibrium, constant speed buttoxball roiling.

Not now or ever is what James does the responsibility of anyone but himself. James needs some other eyes and souls on this video as he Ponders the next 24 hours or so. it would require wearing one's very big boy or big girl underpants. And anyone that did watch it and had what they thought could be helpful thoughts for James Plus or negative, serious thoughts, of course he would like to know them. Now would be a good time but time for thoughtfulness first. Also this
Elysium, the documentary. Can you explain to me how this is not the reality that the ruling Elites around the globe have been embracing for many years? Into which we are willfully oblivious? They have all but built the orbiting structure. If you don't think this is true you really should explain it to me.

Tolstoy's bottom line. "Understand then, all of you, that you were born neither slaves nor masters, that you are all free; but you are so only when you have observed the supreme law of life, and this law has been revealed to you. It will be sufficient for you to renounce the lies that hide it from you for you to see at once in what it consists and where your happiness lies. This law is in love, and happiness is found in its observance.......
The law of love, the law of violence. Leo Tolstoy. Short book.
From the book Martin Luther King jr. Read in crosier Seminary, the law of love, the law of violence. Leo Tolstoy. Short book that he rushed to write before he died. Free download at this link. Chapter 18 - 19 chapters. Book Tolstoy said he had to write two years before his death near 100. Tolstoy was the Catalyst for Gandhi and Martin Luther King jr. How can you not read this deeply? The following is from the final two chapters that he ever wrote, 18 and 19. And if you read this book as you should and his others you will see that it is a Clarity, a simplification, not even found in the earlier chapters, and in the earlier books. It is as though it took even Tolstoy 100 years to rip out the cultural programming that had prevented him from seeing what is naturally inside us all.

"... Understand then, all of you, that you were born neither slaves nor masters, that you are all free; but you are so only when you have observed the supreme law of life, and this law has been revealed to you. It will be sufficient for you to renounce the lies that hide it from you for you to see at once in what it consists and where your happiness lies. This law is in love, and happiness is found in its observance..... Understand that, and you will become really free; you will acquire everything that to-day you are vainly seeking to obtain by the complicated means suggested to you by corrupted men. "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
(Matthew, xi, 28-32.)
... You will be preserved from evil and you will acquire the real good, not by looking after your interest, not by envy, hatred, anger, ambition; not even by a sense of justice, or above all by the care of organizing the life of others; but, strange as it may seem, only by the work of your own soul, not following any outside interests, and not trying to reason with its dictates.
... Understand then, all of you, especially the young, that to want to impose an imaginary state of government on others by violence is not only a vulgar superstition, but even a criminal work. Understand that this work, far from assuring the good of men, is hypocricy, and is only a lie, a more or less unconscious always hiding the lowest passions....
.... Understand it, you, men of to-morrow, and stop looking for an illusionary happiness by participating in the administration of the state, by judicial institutions, by instruction, by all kinds of parties who have the good of the masses as an aim. Pay attention to only one thing, that which you need the most, that is the most accessible, which gives the most happiness to us and to every one: the increase of love in us by the suppression of vices and passions that keep it from manifesting itself [ and more importantly by empowering that love by carefully monitoring yourself and putting it in charge. James] ....
... Remember it, consecrate your life to this joyous work; just begin it, and you will see that it is the true work in life, and it alone determines the amelioration of the condition of everybody an end that you follow blindly by false methods. Do becoming as inevitable for us as is the
not forget that the common bond is in the union of men, and that this union can never be attained by means of violence. It is enough that every one should observe the law of life, and this union will be realized without the need of seeking for it.
This supreme law, alone, is the same for all of us and unites us all....
.... We possess a single infallible guide and this is the Universal Spirit that lives in men as a whole, and in each one of us, which makes us aspire to what we should aspire; it is the spirit that commands the tree to grow towards the sun, the flower to throw off its seed in autumn, us to reach out towards God, and by so doing become united to each other....
.... No matter how obscured your brain may be by your authority, your wealth, no matter how badly treated you may be and how irritated by misery and humiliations, you possess and you manifest like all of us, the divine spirit, which asks you clearly to-day: Why do you martyrize yourself and make all those about you unhappy? Understand who you are, just how insignificant and infallible is that which you call "you" having understood it, your spiritual self and commence to live entirely for the accomplishment of the superior mission of your life which has been revealed to you by universal wisdom, by the doctrine of Christ, and by your own conscience.....
... Put the good of your life in the progressive freedom of your mind, freedom from all the illusions of the flesh, and in the improvement of your love for your fellow man which is, after all, the same thing. As soon as you will have begun to live thus, you will be aware of a joyous sensation full of liberty and happiness. You will be surprised to see that the same external conditions, with which you were so concerned, and which were far from realization, will not prevent the coming of the greatest possible happiness....
.... And if you are unhappy I know that you are reflect upon what has been proposed to you here, and which I have not imagined, but is the result of the thoughts and feelings of the best minds and human hearts, and which is the only way to deliver you from your unhappiness, to acquire the greatest good that you can get in this life. That is what I have wanted to say to before dying.
