James concern about his possible abusiveness of himself and stuff, has been and remains a concern.

but the following thoughts come to mind. John who largely spawned the man Jesus was a bit of a scourge. He was pretty harsh. Jesus himself was pretty harsh. 

would any of this give James license to abuse? Never, not one iota, what then? 

treatment. The good doctor when she
sees someone lying on the ground might pound on his chest with her fists to restart the heart. Some medicine is very bitter but necessary. 

Several tourists asked thoughtless questions, not unkind, but thoughtless. Is that solar? That's abuse of James. God helps those that help themselves. Same with James. to ask someone what you know yourself tho unintended abuse is abuse. Is James to happily indulge that? That would be abuse  by James of the offending individual. It's complicated but this some reservations for James at the moment. However, regarding abuse of stuff when it does not operate the way he would like, that's a different issue. The move toward a zero-tolerance policy on that.

As to abuse of self, Expecting The Impossible, holding oneself to the survival of the elements. James Wood stand in the way of anyone that did this to another. It is not acceptable for him to not do the same for himself. He can probably make substantial progress on this but he needs to focus on it and take responsibility.
