Warning!! Be extra alert and careful. Highway etiquette for Texas drivers is that any vehicle moving slower than "high speed" on a two lane is expected to move over into the breakdown shoulder lane while still cruising along at some slightly lower high speed so that the car approaching from behind can "pass" without having to cross the center line into the oncoming traffic lane. In some ways I guess this is "safer" with respect to avoiding high speed head-on collisions. But it is dangerous for the vehicle in the breakdown lane. I refuse to follow this custom and several times gotten the finger and blaring horn as they are forced to pass me in the normal (other states) way. Or they just pass on the right at high speed in the breakdown lane.
