The
Seaway Pipeline, construction of which was completed in 1976,
originally carried imported crude from Freeport, Texas, north to
refineries in the midwest.
While #NoKXL has slowed down the Keystone XL pipeline, TransCanada's competitor jumped at the chance to beat them to the coast. In November of 2011, Enbridge bought 50% interest in the Seaway pipeline, while Enterprise Products retained ownership of the other 50%.
Now they are installing the "Seaway Loop," which will make the Seaway line have about the same production level as the southern leg of the Keystone XL.
