det 'a. 99pct Spring, 350.org, Killing All Life, all Time left.' sLoving (vid, later)

(vid later.  Wifi crippled - upload impossible).

Within recent weeks there's an item that has given me a rare modicum of hope, tiny, but hope nonetheless.  The first I learned of it was in news reports that the AFL-CIO, rather than a huge lump sum check to the DNC this year for the election, decided at the suggestion of president Obama I'm guessing, to put that money into grassroots organizing grassroots, grassroots efforts.  You know, that still gives me a modicum of hope. I don't see how bad can come out of that. Money into citizens being able to remember and execute their individual personal civic duty.  Yes, there is hope in that.

More recently, I've been getting e-mails from 350.og, SEIU, others, on what I think is being called the 99% Spring.  There are trainings going on this week in civil disobedience, meetings and trainings, of a planned 100,000 people.

Last night, for half an hour or so I watched Chris Hayes on MSNBC; film clips of his segment within recent days on this event.  He's a young man of some small promise.  It featured clips and ideas of Tim DeChristopher who is currently in prison for two years for putting his body in the way of illegal and heinous exploitation of national lands in Utah.  That fellow who for a brief time was president Obama's green Czar  early in the administration, and several others were on the panel, or in any case, in the discussion, and I was distinctly aware of how dis-interesting and un-hopeful  I found it, and wondered why.  I don't wonder why anymore, and yet I can't articulate it all that clearly.

I don't expect violence from this group, but it's a mob.  The Freedom Riders weren't a mob, the Civil Rights marchers weren't a mob.  The Freedom Riders, the Civil Rights marchers were people of the highest moral character either throughout their lives, or they found and applied the highest moral character ever seen in humanity.  It wasn't their effort to manipulate.  It wasn't their effort to force others, it wasn't their effort to obstruct others.  It was their intention to pay the price as every responsible human does for what they want, to personally pay the price for a change.

No they weren't martyrs.  They didn't know what form of that price would be exacted from them but they knew what they were going to pay everything they had, and and everything that they were.  I see no hint of that in this 350.org 99% Spring.  I see another free lunch effort by the left.

There was a right winger, a young right-wing blogger or news guy, I didn't recognize the name, on Chris's circle.  He raised the one particularly intelligent and insightful point.  Maybe not for the right reasons, but it was the right insightful point. Chris had just said - finally, the left has learn a lesson from the tea party, and this guy shot in - no they didn't -  They still haven't learned the lesson of the tea party.  The tea party was, not his words, but his sentiments - the idea of the tea party was to work the system, elect the representatives,  manage and control the primary process,  and then stay on top of the representatives to hold their feet to the fire.  What he didn't say and could've said was either raise the public will or so intimidate the bystanders that they stay out of the way so that the net will available is the will you want.  I'm not ever endorsing that, but for the counter to it, the genuinely raising the public will, having sanity prevail.

This 99% spring is yet another of 40 years attempts by the left at free lunch - No we don't have to do that work.  We don't have to work, we can have sort of a party and 'act' like activists, for our four hour post and forfeit.  I pray I'm wrong.  I pray this is stuffed right back down my throat in coming weeks.  But I don't have any hope of that.

A fire doesn't start with the wood, piece of wood, large or small, that's not on fire.  I don't see anyone on fire.  Thank God I see a little bit of backbone emerging in Bill McKibben and reemerging in Jim Hansen, some seriousness of purpose, but not fire.  And in this the green czar Guy, he was  the original Pr. Obama green czar,  he never impressed me, oh, great intelligence, he knows how to work the system, this is what you're supposed to do on the left, but no fire.

So the left is expecting to do without fire, without igniting itself, what has only ever been done by people igniting themselves - the women suffragists, the civil rights movement, the anti-Vietnam War movement.  At the core of those, at the heart of those, at the start of those was always people on fire.  Code Pink for God's sake, was mentioned in the list the people behind this 99% Spring.  Coldhearted, ranting, overprivileged, zero fire.  The arrogance that they're going to do for free, without fire, without burning, what the people that I'm sure they think they admire, sure they think they're following, like Alice Paul, couldn't do.  The arrogance, the stupidity.

They're killing humanity, because they are killing what little time is left.
