Jesus ABHORS Worship! Jesus ABHORS Following!
What??!?!?!??!?!?? Here's how to see it. You in future years become a great, world-beloved healer of some sort. You are driving in a populated area of the city and you come upon a horrible bus crash with dozens of wounded. Your heart breaks as you frantically leap out of the car to help, to try to Save. You and the bystanders are the only available help. You get out of your car, and your would-be helpers come and worship, and adore you, and follow you around, gawking and praising you as you help people.
What could be more abhorrent to you? Joining you in the total attempt to save; that is what you desperately and agonizingly want of people.
For every pro football player on the field there are millions, MILLIONS in bars or living rooms watching (and drinking) - VICARIOUSLY sharing in the "glory." But Jesus was not playing football. Jesus was trying to lead humankind to SAVE ITSELF from the Hell, from the Entropy of Meaninglessness, and the Hell, the Entropy of Ignorance and Want.
And by the billions we debauch and gluttony in our wicked "worship" and "following," stealing Vicarious GRATIFICATION from Jesus, glorying in HIS Crucifixion, THRIVING ON the "needless suffering" of others, INSTEAD OF JOINING HIM; AS A DEFENSE AGAINST FOLLOWING HIM!!! Oh, it is so sad. It is so abhorrent. And soon, it will be over, if we don't wake up, and begin to individually, lonely one by lonely one walk, and possibly lead out of this mess.
